Our Stories

Janelle

I'm Janelle. I got really interested in the idea of a trip to Mexico the day Ocean introduced it to me. I have been involved in numerous humanitarian aid organizations (30 Hour Famine, Homeless for a Night for the Youth Emergency Shelter Society, Diabetes Centre, Christmas Shoe Box and the Mustard Seed.) I like it cuz in my mind to help others who need it is a great accomplishment.

Ocean

So I'm gonna tell you how this journey started. It began with a girl with a dream: a desire for a better world; a need and hunger to fulfill her duty in life. (This is starting to sound like a fairy tale.) Any who, from the time I was a youngster I loved the world, but even so I continued to yearn  for a perfect world with love, peace, freedom and fairness. As I grew older I realized my idea was a little bit far fetched but that it can be possible with many hands. Striving, I would donate all my childhood pennies to humanitarian aid. I also gave my Barbies as a donation hoping it would make some children happy (for the Christmas Shoe Boxes project.) Throughout all of my life I have tried to create a better life for those around me. Sub-consciously I think I always knew that I was going to travel the world, but not as a tourist but an experiencer who helps others on their path. When the opportunity came to do so (when I heard about Hero Holiday) I was assured that some how I would go but financially it was near to impossible until a shimmering idea weaved its way into my thoughts about this blessing trip. I hope everything works out well so my dream will grow with experience.

To all those reading:

Don't stop believing you can make a difference in the world. Every day, in a small way, you already are. continue on in your hopes. Ocean

Stephanie

I'm Stephanie. I took part in the 30 Hour Famine and various other fund raisers so when I heard about this I immediately wanted to join. Unfortunately I can't go to Mexico with Janelle and Ocean but I still want to help raise money for the trip. I'm very interested in helping those worse off than I am in any way I can, which is why I want to get my nursing degree and work as a missionary nurse when I graduate. I hope in the future I will be able to go on a Hero Holiday as well. Stephanie.
